Job Summary

Own and function as the subject matter expert for specified product segments and channels, identify opportunities, build solutions, and influence buying habits to guarantee CITGO's long-term market share. Help develop the company's overall strategy through proper market position with the product, price, and brand support. Recommend market trajectory for current and future products by analyzing market reports, understanding the competition, and performing field research. Product lifecycle ownership, identifying market gaps, optimizing product mix, ensuring the successful launch of new products to pull profitable volume forward, measuring when materials are no longer viable, and implementing proactive material retirement strategies. Define the product vision and work closely with Technology, Manufacturing, Sales, Brand Development, Pricing, vendors, and other support personnel. Skillful project management of product and category plans through influencing and motivating internal and external stakeholders towards common goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree:

  • College Degree (Bachelors Level) in Marketing, Engineering or related.

The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is: 

  • 8 years of sales, marketing or related experience.

List any specialized training or unique skills required:

  • Strong knowledge in sales, production, distribution, product development, and B2B & B2C marketing strategies.
  • Knowledgeable of company financial/operational processes and strategies.
  • Proven decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Duties

  • Complete product lifecycle ownership by continuously analyzing sales metrics, market research, and field intelligence, recommending market trajectory for current and future products.
  • Recommends a company-wide go-to-market plan and, after approval, works with all relevant departments to execute it. Influence and motivate internal stakeholders towards common goals on product project management—continuous measurement and communication of agreed upon KPIs.
  • The Product Manager is accountable for the overall profitability of their product lines and categories. Maintains a sound understanding of pricing within product categories and recommends pricing strategies within industry segments based upon customers' willingness to pay, product position, and competition. Recommend changes in market position based upon leading and lagging indicators.
  • Ensure proper market position through appropriate brand support based upon market strategy and category needs. The Product Manager is responsible for guaranteeing that our customers and salesforce have the necessary tools to achieve their sales goals and deliver on end-user expectations by working with Brand, Internal Communications, and our agency of record.
  • Increase awareness of relevant product and category subject matter by assisting in developing and delivering sales and technical training. Platforms for knowledge delivery include webinars, tradeshows, collateral creation, customer meetings, and prospect visits.
  • Analyze and advise on potential partner relationships for products, content, market trends, and components, working with Supply, Technology, and Procurement.
  • Work with content manager and communications team to ensure accuracy of web properties, literature, and other collateral containing assigned product lines and categories.
